Wibsey Park Community Garden
Our Aims
We aim to develop a financially and environmentally sustainable project
promoting local healthy food production and providing ideas for sustainable living. We will be growing food and veg plants to sell offering training and therapeutic horticulture sessions to groups and individuals on site and to have opportunities for local schools and other community groups to use the site, and show local people how to grow their own food. If you’re interested in volunteering for the project or coming to one of our weekly groups contact us.
Where we are now
Wibsey is usually bustling with activity, whether it's the weekly gardening and cook & eat sessions, a community event, a group of corporate volunteers or our amazing team of dedicated volunteers. With thanks to all these helping hands and securing chunks of funding our site is constantly morphing as the master plan is put into action with edible forests, ponds, outdoor cooking areas and much more taking shape.
We host monthly Community Taster days so please look at our news pages and come along to the next one and see your community garden in the flesh!
Site History
In March 2011 Bradford Metropolitan District Council moved out of the plant nursery in the corner of Wibsey Park as the nursery work was moved to Peel park. In May 2011 BCEP took over the site on licence from the council and in June we began some site improvements and a community consultation to help us to develop a site master-plan.
