Aims:
To connect children with their natural environment and build confidence through play.

WASPS (Wild and Safe Play Spaces) is a district wide programme, which can work with children of all ages. We facilitate play sessions in local green spaces and tailor activites to suit the needs of the group.
Activities may include:A mud face
Den building
Small camp fires
Tresure hunts
Arts and crafts
Playing with the elements
There are many benefits to outdoor play and the WASPS approach these include:
Increased social and physical skills
Greater use of imaginative and complex play
Increased concentration
Relieves syptoms of stress
Increased language development
Increased brain and memory function
Reduction in illness
Reduced risk of obesity
Increase in self esteem and self confidence

Sites used can be open access or closed, the only rule is that they must be within walking distance of the group. They may include:
