Scrap Magic Mobile Shop at Bierley, Holme Wood & Tyersal Children’s Centres (BHT)
As part of our mobile shop scheme Scrap Magic provides a shop at the BHT children’s centres in Bradford South each month. The mobile shops consist of a scaled down version of the range of resources available to buy in our main shop for the regular users of the centres.
The BHT centres deliver the full core offer for Children’s Centres, this includes; Family Support, Language Development support, Crèches, Stay & Play sessions and numerous courses and activities for families.
As we have 3 Children’s Centres, Scrap Magic provides a session to each on a monthly basis, meaning each setting has a session once every three months. These are ideal as they give time for parents to use the materials they have purchased over the three months so ensures the Mobile Shops are always popular.
Scrap Magic has made a positive impact at our centres and for the families who access it. The mobile shop is always popular with our parents. We get a number of them asking when it will next be here.
It’s a really good opportunity for our parents to carry on with creative activities at home after being given ideas by the Scrap Magic staff. The materials are reasonably priced which also makes them accessible to our parents.
It is great Scrap Magic is provided at our centres because then it is accessible to all our parents as not everyone has a car or is able to travel too far on the bus with children. It also enables our parents to access reasonably priced materials which they can use at home.
Scrap Magic has made an influence in encouraging parents to try activities such as crafts with their children at home which will help their development.
Scrap Magic Mobile Shop at the Cottingley Cornerstone Centre
As part of our mobile shop scheme Scrap Magic provides a shop at the Cottingley Cornerstone Centre in Shipley area once a month. The mobile shops consist of a scaled down version of the range of resources available to buy in our main shop for the regular users of the centres.
Cottingley Cornerstone Centre is community centre with multi-purpose rooms to accommodate a wide range of activities and sessions from street dance to cake decorating, arts and craft sessions to IT training. We also run a very successful play scheme during the school holidays.
Scrap Magic provides a shop once a month which is now being used by all members of the community.
Scrap Magic mobile shop has definitely made a positive impact at the centre and our users. It provides not only resources for families to use at discounted prices but ideas of what to do with them making a happier more creative Cottingley.
It is great to provide the service at our centre and we are part of the community. In addition, when Scrap Magic is here we get more footfall through the centre, more sales in the café and overall happier clients which benefits the centre and community.
