Sustainable Futures
Aim: To raise awareness of sustainability issues, and to encourage involvement in environmental activities.
Sustainable Futures was a district wide scheme aimed at schools, youth and other community groups. The sessions provided fun, interactive, activity based learning. The project delivered a series of tailor-made programmes, encouraging young people to identify and explore local environmental issues.
Themes covered include:
The team developed many activities and games to use for the different themes such as; looking at the likes and dislikes of an area, pairing waste items with things they have been made into, making recycled paper, making mini windmills, transport bingo, role plays, food web games, ‘pick and eat’, wind energy myths and facts, food miles, felt making, banner making, using natural dyes, and recycled art.

- Running local events and workshops for the Young Pavement Artist competition
- Organising the Women’s Northern Environmental Networking Day
- Providing activities for an Early Years Conference
- Helping to organise, and providing activities leading up to and on Apple Days
- Providing activities for Woodland Celebration Days
- Hosting celebration events on our community allotments
