Grow Organic Recipes
These are some of the recipes we've tried out with our groups in Cook & Eat sessions.
Savoury dishes (See below for sweet dishes)
- Leek and potato soup - goes down well after harvesting potatoes
- Fried green tomatoes at the Down to Earth café
- Green tomato chutney
- Warm crunchy garlic salad dressing
- Bread rolls - we made these with home-grown wheat
- Pumpkin and Apple soup - this went down well at a school fair
- Red cabbage and apple
- Coleslaw
- Mackerel with spring onion and fresh mustard leaves - a women's group made this on a camping weekend
- Chard with pine nuts - the Down to Earth women's group enjoyed this
The Bradford Action for Refugees allotment group have been sharing recipes:
- Shredded Cabbage (Somalia)
- Devilled prawns (Sri Lanka)
- Horseradish Sauce
- Mixed leaf stir-fry
- Artichoke soup
The Scotchman Road Women’s Community Growing Group attended “skill swap” sessions at the Treehouse café. Here are a couple of recipes they shared with the café’s staff. Some of the vegetables were grown by the women, at the Scotchman Road allotment in Manningham.
