Summerseat Place
Posted by cud, August 8th, 2008
Summerseat Place is a piece of open land owned by Bradford Metropolitan District Council but which was cut off from Great Horton Road by a tall stone boundary wall.
Summerseat Place BEFOREConsulted at the Neighbourhood Forum and applied for planning consent. The majority of the work was carried out by a landscape contractor with some input from BCEP trainees.
The new path is now a part of a pedestrian and cycle route that follows the line of the old railway cutting.
Summerseat Place BEFORE
The entrance is formed between two piers of the original boundary wall, a new wall curves inwards to match an existing entrance onto Summerseat Place and a seating and meeting space has been developed within these walls.
The new entrance has opened up the land beyond both visually and physically, and the seating area has been well used since the site was opened up to the public.
