Café West Sensory Garden

Our brief for this site was to create a sensory garden at the front of the new Community Centre, whilst creating a physical barrier to vehicles. Through liaising with the Centre Manager and Healthy Living Co-ordinator, a consultation board was set up to create some community interest and get some feedback.

Work was completed in Autumn 2005, transforming the blank grass verge into an interesting place to walk through, with rocks, posts and planting, some of which was carried out by local children. The crèche within the centre was given a low sleeper planter to give the children an opportunity to grow plants and herbs that could be used within the centre’s kitchen and in the new garden.
