Anchor Garden

Many houses in Bradford have very small front gardens which have been covered in concrete. The aim of the Anchor Project who commissioned UDT was to create an exemplary front garden on a small piece of land to encourage more positive use of front gardens.
Anchor Garden proposalsUDT prepared four different designs for this purpose and the Anchor Project selected one of them as the first phase of several.
Anchor Garden proposals
In the chosen design a simple path made of stepping stones lead through the garden to where a front door to a terraced house would be located. Big terracotta planters and a seat next to a small water feature placed among the vegetation were added. Due to the number of residents originally from Asia, the emphasis was put on flexibility of planting and ease of maintenance, so that the design suited both vegetable and ornamental plant growing.
