Loan Packs
APE can provide the resources we use in play sessions for loan for settings across the district for free (although a donation helps with our running costs).
Resources are available to loan short term or long term. The descriptions below describe what is available;
Short Term Loans
Short term loans of resources are suitable for settings who wish to use scrap resources from one day to one month for events, themed days or weeks or just for a change to what they offer.
1. Large Play Packs
Play packs are made up from a variety of scrap resources such as cardboard tubes, reels, wheels, barrels, crates etc… These items are collected from local businesses instead of them being disposed of in landfill to give them a new life!
These are ideal for outdoor play and provide much scope for imagination. Children can use the resources for exploring as well as creating temporary structures or models (cellotape, string and scissors are provided with the loan)
We can tailor packs to themes such as Den Building, Car Making, Water Play etc… If you have a theme, let us know and we can see if we could make up a pack which would be suitable. Alternatively an open theme with a general mix of resources always works well.
2. Junk Modelling Loans
Junk modelling loans consist of our smaller scrap, which is great for junk modelling type activities. The pack will include scrap such as plastic pots, trays, small tubes, cones and cardboard along with arty scrap, which adds some colour and fun. The packs are great for small projects to make models; the activity is especially flexible to fit with themes the children are learning about. Themes include Rubbish Monsters, Litter Bugs, Robots and more.
Models can be taken home so we don’t expect all the resources back at the end for this loan.
3. Loan Boxes
We have 3 themed boxes available for loan up to one month; these can also be collected from Scrap Magic shop when open.

Long Term Loans
Long term loans of resources are suitable for settings who wish to use scrap resources on an ongoing basis.When settings receive a long term loan they can keep them indefinitely provided they are using them regularly and can still use them.
Long term loan resources include the large scrap materials such as cardboard tubes, reels, wheels, barrels, crates etc…
Delivery and collection
The loan resources are delivered to and collected from your setting at a pre-arranged day and time. We aim to be as flexible as possible but sometimes we may be very busy and have to come at less convenient times.
When the resources are returned we ask they are in the condition they arrived in. This ensures we can transport them and do not have to spend a long time ensuring they are suitable for another loan.
Storage
The main factor settings need to consider is the storage of the items. We ask they are stored in a covered and secure area so they aren’t exposed to the elements or get stolen or vandalised.
When organising the loan we will ensure the resources loaned are suitable for the setting and storage space available.
