Holmewood and Bierley Food Initiative
Aim: To encourage and assist a healthy lifestyle through food growing, gardening, good diet and related activities.
This programme finished in September 2004. Food growing areas were established and supported at Bierley Community Centre, Newhall Park Primary, Lowerfields Primary and St. John's Primary schools. A food club at Newhall Park ran alongside the growing club and in partnership with S&W PCT introduced young people and their parents to healthy eating. Food activities were present at local events including Bierley Woods Family Day, Holmewood Gala and Bierley Gala. The Springfield Community garden was also completed.
