Down to Earth growers go to Chelsea

Growers on the Down to Earth allotment project at West Bowling were proud to see the vegetables they had grown taking their place in the Food Zone of the Silver-medal-winning Places of Change Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. The brightly coloured chard, curly kale, beetroot and cabbage, lovingly nurtured through the frosty spring, looked delicious planted up in the allotment beds. Down to Earth participants were also justly proud of the three mosaics incorporated in the garden which they had created with Artworks.

The Places of Change garden, the biggest show garden ever built at Chelsea, is an ambitious collaboration between the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the Eden Project, Homeless Link, and Communities and Local Government (CLG). It was created by over 500 homeless people, prisoners and other disadvantaged adults from over 40 organisations.
