What a harvest!

At the beginning of 2009 Grow Organic started work at a local Children’s Centre, putting in some raised beds so the eager young gardeners who attend the centre could grow and eat their own fruit and vegetables.

Thanks to a great combination of gardeners with little green fingers and wonderful topsoil (Tommy Topsoil’s Veggie Soil) the crops the children have grown have been a brilliant success. We have had carrots by the cartload, beetroot by the bucket full and beans by the barrow load. This may be a slight exaggeration but our crops have done well and the beetroot was highly commended in the West Yorkshire Organic Fruit, Vegetable and Flower show on September 19th.

The children have enjoyed eating the produce they have grown - some raw and some of it cooked. They may not have made many comments but the expressions on their faces told a great story.
