New objectives for BCEP

BCEP revised it’s objectives at it’s AGM on Tuesday 14th October 2008. Following a review of BCEP present and proposed activities and reflection on the Charities Act 2006, which includes new definitions of areas of charitable work, the Board of Trustees formulated 7 objectives for the charity. The new objects were sent to The Charity Commission to check compatibility with the Charity Act, before being proposed and accepted at the 2008 AGM.

The new objects are not radically deferent from BCEP’s original objects, but do reflect the changes in legislation and BCEP’s involving programmes of activity.

The new Objects statement reads:

The objects for which the Association is established are to contribute to the sustainable regeneration of the Bradford Metropolitan District by:

  1. The protection, improvement or conservation of the physical and natural environment.
  2. The promotion of urban and rural regeneration.
  3. The provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupation in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom they are intended.
  4. The provision of public works and services and the provision of public amenities.
  5. To develop the capacity, competence, skills and understanding of members of the community in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society.
  6. To advance the education of the public and in particular young people concerning the benefits of local food production, sound nutrition, cooking, and the environment.
  7. The preservation, protection and promotion of good health.
