Thackley Bike Course

Thackley bike course lies in North Bradford. It is an existing bike track that is set in Buck Wood.

The track has become run down, under used and has problems between conflict of users such as horse riders, dog walkers, cycling and youths.

After consultation meetings with local community groups, cycling groups, local businesses, cycling charity groups and Bradford Council, proposals have been drawn up by the Urban Design Team, to improve the space and restrict unwanted conflict in use whilst improving the site for pedestrians and cycle users.

Chellow Dean and Pitty Beck

The Urban Design Team (UDT) were approached to work alongside the BMDC Drainage Department to help deliver and create two Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems as part of a European approach to urban drainage.

The Greenway

The Greenway in east Bradford had become a neglected public space due to regular anti-social behaviour including joy-riding and vandalism. These elements had led to many different approaches to restrict access on to the space, but had resulted in a mixture of bollards and fencing that had no continuity and looked unsightly.
